Veronica De Jesus is an Oakland-based artist who creates drawings and installations inspired by her childhood memories synthesized with contemporary questions about consumer culture and consumerism. Her drawings are exquisitely crafted and present simple visions of very complicated issues. de Jesus evokes a pastiche of cultural art forms, from cartoon and folk art to graffiti and religious paintings, yet her work is unmistakably honest and original. Veronica De Jesus also teaches fine art at UC Berkeley.
